Fryslân – Ljouwert
Friesland – Leeuwarden

Friesland is interesting. At least this is where my family originates from. My middle name is Frisian. It is not even Dutch. It is dutcher than Dutch!

Friesland has its own language. The language is quite different from Dutch, and it is almost incomprehensible to dutch speakers.

Look 3 entries back. I posted a beautiful song from youtube. That is Frisian. The music that you are listening now is Dutch.

This music is first sung in French <>. This is the Dutch version <>. On the Photo page, you can listen to the French version. Both versions are sung by the same guy.
I love this song a lot (the French version). It really captures my heart. I often found myself holding my breath so as not to spoil the beauty of the music. It may be slow and almost a bore to most people, but it is the slowness and silence of the song that caught my attention.

That flag there with the blue and white stripes, with red hearts, (well, it is not really hearts but rather water lilies or something similar), is the Frisian flag.

How modern looking. I prefer old stuff. Just like wine, the older, the better.

I saw this poem on the floor. This is in Frisian. Unfortunately I do not understand a word of it.

Look at those graffiti’s! Aren’t they beautiful?

Good bye and see you soon.
